Football season is the best time of the year. It starts in the summery warmth of August, carries into the crisp Autumn of October and November, and now will draw to an close in the chilliness of December.
We all have to wait more than seven months in the offseason, so the anticipation for football in August is at an all-time high. But little did we know, college football would save its best for last. This weekend, conference championship weekend, there are five matchups of teams ranked inside the top-12.
Things get started on Friday night when No. 10 USC and No. 12 Stanford meet in Santa Clara, Calif. Saturday begins with No. 3 Oklahoma and No. 11 TCU in the morning, brings us a lunch of No. 2 Auburn against No. 6 Georgia, then wraps up the day with the final two matchups: No. 4 Wisconsin vs. No. 8 Ohio State and No. 1 Clemson vs. No. 7 Miami.
With all four top-ranked teams in action on Saturday, each game will have an impact on the College Football Playoff selections.
At this point, it's anyone's guess who will celebrate New Year's in Pasadena, but we've got a great weekend of football ahead to figure it out.
With no Thursday games this week, we'll look ahead to Friday and the first conference title game of the weekend, the Pac-12:
Friday, December 1
Pac-12 Championship Game: Stanford vs. USC, 8 pm ET/5 pm PT, ESPN
