Rose Bowletin - Week 2

With week one here and gone, the college football season is officially in full swing.

The opening weekend was jam-packed with thrillers that left little to be desired. Many fans around the country were given a scare, including those fans of No. 2 Ohio State, No. 4 USC, No. 8 Washington, and No. 9 Wisconsin, but in the end, their teams prevailed.

It seemed as though the college football gods saved the best for last in week one. We were given a pair of Sunday games, a rarity in the college football world, and neither disappointed. Virginia Tech outlasted West Virginia, 31-24, in a rivalry game that was back-and-forth from the get-go. At the same time, UCLA staged one of the greatest comebacks in NCAA history, rallying from 34 points down to beat Texas A&M, 45-44. Then on Monday, in the final game of the weekend, Tennessee and Georgia Tech gave us a double-overtime thriller that ended with the Volunteers on (rocky) top, 42-41.

This week, however, could top week one's action and is likely to be billed as the marquee week of the season. Three top-15 matchups are featured in this week's Games of the Week section of the Bowletin, but we'll give you a little taste of them right here. Oklahoma is looking to avenge their home loss to Ohio State last season when they visit Columbus, Ohio, on Saturday. On the West Coast, there's a potential Pac-12 Championship preview when Stanford travels to Los Angeles to take on USC. And finally, there's an ACC/SEC battle in South Carolina as Auburn tries to knock-off the reigning National Champions, Clemson.

Looking ahead at the schedule for the next night, there may be a couple games that catch your eye, including a game tonight:

Friday, September, 8

Memphis at UCF, 3:30 pm, ESPN News

Ohio at Purdue, 5 pm, FS1

Oklahoma State at South Alabama, 5 pm, ESPN2

Have a great weekend!
